How to use ChatGPT 5.1 to translate Trados files using your own glossary

You can now use Bohemicus to machine translate texts in any CAT tool, or directly Trados sdlxliff files, using the ChatGPT translation engine.

Instructions

1.To configure ChatGPT in Bohemicus, enter your OpenAI API key and click the cogwheel icon:

2.Next, configure the ChatGPT engine. Note that different engines can have very different pricing. The gpt-3.5.-turbo seems to provide the best price/value ratio:

3.Select the temperature (creativity). This means how creative will the ChatGPT engine be when translating your files. The value of 1 means maximum creativity…. meaning that ChatGPT might just make stuff up, and deviate from an accurate translation.

4. Provide any additional instructions. You can add any instructions you wish. But ChatGPT seems to have its own mind: it might or might not respect your instructions:

5. Add glossary. You can specify how individual terms should be translated. Structure the glossary in 2 columns, and separate them by a tab, space, colon, comma… any logical separator would do:

6. Click Save. You are now ready to use ChatGPT to translate your files. You can use it in the same way as any other translation provider, e.g. DeepL or Google.
